Checklist for Filing a Domestic Violence Complaint
Domestic violence can take many forms—physical, verbal, emotional, financial. As a woman and lawyer, I bring both empathy and precision in guiding clients through DV litigation.

Who Should Approach Me?
If you are facing abuse from your husband or in-laws, or fear for your child’s safety, contact me for a confidential consultation.
Checklist Before Filing a DV Complaint:
1. Record of Incidents:
Dates, messages, videos, or medical reports. I help organize this into a legally valid affidavit.
2. Choose Reliefs Wisely:
You can seek one or more of the following:
- Protection Order
- Residence Order
- Maintenance
- Custody of Children
- Return of Stridhan
3. File at the Right Forum:
Either with the Protection Officer, Police, or directly at the Magistrate Court. I usually file DV petitions under Section 12 of the DV Act.
Example:
A client who faced economic and psychological abuse from in-laws was granted interim maintenance and residence order within three weeks after I filed her petition.
What I Do:
I help draft all pleadings, prepare you for court, and remain by your side during protection order hearings. If needed, I also file appeals against unfavourable interim orders.
